The Persistence is curated by Mandie Gower, a British editor and journalist on women’s media brands for the last 20 years.

That’s me by the way. Always a bit odd to write about yourself in the third person. But then I guess life is pretty odd right now.

Now based in Amsterdam, I’ve been editor-in-chief of women’s magazines in London and Dubai, and am the editor of two books, Life Lessons from Remarkable Women (2018) and Life Lessons on Friendship (2021). I’ve held senior roles at, or been published by, leading publications including Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia, Glamour, Stylist, The Guardian, Daily Telegraph, and I’ve been shortlisted three times as editor of the year by the British Society of Magazine Editors.

Over the years I’ve interviewed Prime Ministers, organised a women’s strike over the gender pay gap, attended the wedding of Guns ‘n Roses’ bassist and been threatened with prison for publishing a sex feature. Magazines are a broad beat. But at its heart, my career has been about amplifying women’s voices, opportunities and achievements. There is always work to be done.
